Jiu Tian Sheng Di九天聖帝 Jiu Tian Sheng Di refers to the following Nine Lords :
Emperor Lord Chang Sheng (南極長生大帝) Sun: 太陽星君 Lord of Sun Moon: 太陰星君 Lord of Moon Stars: 紫微星君 Lord of Stars Fire: 火德星君 Lord of Mars Kan – Water: 水德星君 Lord of Mercury Wood : 木德星君 Lord of Jupiter Gold: 金德星君 Lord of Venus Earth: 土德星君 Lord of Saturn Lord Chang Sheng is the leader. The other 8 are known as the Deities of the Eight Directions. They are also commonly known as the Nine Thousand Year Ye (九千歲爺). Folks tend to mistaken these nine Lords as the Dipper Nine Lords. They are more popularly known in China and Taiwan than in South-east Asia. Worshipping of the nine Lords originally started in China, and spread to Taiwan after the end of Japanese control over the island. They were students of Sun Bin. After all warring states were conquered by the Qin State, Emperor Qin Shi Huang honoured martyrs of the other six states for their loyalty to their kings. Among the honoured were Yuan Da 袁達, Sun Yan 孫燕, Li Mu 李牧, Tian Yin 田英, Li Con 李叢, Tian Ji 田忌, Ma Sheng 馬昇, Wu Sheng 吳勝, and Du Ku Ten 獨孤籐. They were collectively given the title of Jiu Tian Sheng Di for their loyalty to their state and people, and their impressive power. |

A thousand-year old temple dedicated to Duke Yang is still visible in China's Fujian Province, Fuzhou City, Dong Men He Lin Village (中國福建省福州市东门鹤林村). |
